I started to announce what I'm currently working on in a short Facebook post. However, as I wrote, it quickly expanded into more, so here we are. Book News Firstly, what I initially was going to talk about on my author page was how I'm revisiting my first ever (and still my favorite) published series, For Always . Out of nowhere, while working on my current book, Fully Awake , which is about halfway finished, I got a sudden urge to publish the For Always series as a box set. Thinking this could be done rather quickly, and should've been done a long time ago, I soon realized I was very mistaken.  When I went to open the files, which are from several years ago, I was surprised to see that they were all corrupt, and I wasn't able to open them. Because of this, I had to jump through hoops to download and convert PDFs, which messed up the formatting and left me having to fix it for each book, which is a feat in itself. As I started doing this yesterday, I thought, "Why ...

I Will For Always Be Inspired

Image
This is a post I did a while back for a blogger about gaining inspiration from places we love, but coming across it again recently, I thought I'd go ahead and post it on my blog, too, since it's a part of who I am and how my first book series came about. Inspiration can come from many things, including books and places. Even as a small child, I'd read a book and it would inspire me to think about that world and how it differed from, or resembled, mine. Or I'd visit a place and it would make me think about the people who lived there, wishing I knew more about their lives. Needless to say, my love of reading led to a love for writing, and my love of the small, historic town I once lived in led to my first novel.  A photo taken at The Revolutionary War Graveyard in Dandridge, TN, where an actual scene from For Always takes place. Living in a house that was once slave quarters during the Civil War, we had many strange things happened, which led us to belie...

FOR ALWAYS Author/Character Interview

Image
Hello... my name is Beverly, and today I'm not only going to be interviewing the author of the FOR ALWAYS series, Janae Mitchell, but I'm also going to interview all of the main characters who star in this hauntingly romantic story. We all decided to meet here at Janae's house, which is located near where this story takes place, right in the heart of East Tennessee.   (As everyone settles down and gets comfy on her wrap-around couch, I get started with some warm-up questions.)  First off, I'd like to thank you, Janae, for having us and allowing this exclusive full cast interview to take place here in your home. Janae:   You're welcome! They all practically live here, anyway, so... (She smiles and shrugs.) Janae, would you care to introduce your characters to those who may not be familiar with them, maybe sharing an insider's secret about them that no one else knows? Beau:   Secrets?  (He winks at Malyn, who is snuggled close to him, holding his hand ...

"For Always" Q&A

Image
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?  Several people have asked me the same questions, so I thought I would publicly answer some of them. I love it when readers have questions, by the way, so never be afraid to ask me something! 1. My daughter is ten and wants to read 'For Always'. Is the content suitable for her? It is YA, not middle grade, so if it were me, I would wait. My daughter is nine, but was dying to read it, so I've been reading it to her, omitting any parts that may not be age-appropriate. To me, fourteenish & up is a more appropriate age, more for content than language. (It is fairly clean as far as language goes, but it is a romance novel.) 2. Will Max & Nellie hook up? This is one of those questions that I didn't expect, but I guess I can see why people have asked. Sorry, I can't really answer this one just yet. That's one of those things you will have to find out when you read book two...or three. (And that applies to questions about Beau...

It's Official!

Now available on Amazon! Click Here WHAT?!? I went out to eat with my family last night and came home to a few messages on Facebook. One happened to read: Hi, I just saw that your book is on Amazon to download for Kindle. I have two Nooks! Why does it show Kindle ebook and not paperback yet? Not thinking it would be available at all until the 18th, I quickly pulled up Amazon to see if it was actually there (after I sat there with my mouth hanging open, trying to halt my rapidly increasing heartbeat). To my surprise, there it was. My unpublished virginity had been taken—I was officially a published author! With this being my debut novel, the feeling of seeing my baby, my firstborn, up in lights—on Amazon—was overwhelming. The thought of someone reading my words and hopefully loving my story excited me more than any amount of money the book may bring. Something I had dreamed about for a long time had come to fruition, and people were going to be able to read my book...

COMING NOVEMBER 18th

Image
I am excited to announce . . . For Always  will officially be available on November 18th! Malyn Reed meets and quickly falls in love with Beau Brogan,  who seems to be perfect in every way…  Except for the fact that he died in 1910… Malyn Reed has been able to see spirits her entire life. Now that she’s almost seventeen, she has learned to differentiate between the living and the dead, making her gift feel less like an evil curse. She ignores the spirits she encounters daily, which has made living side by side with them slightly easier…until she moves to Dandridge, the second-oldest town in Tennessee. Beau Brogan has been dead for a hundred years. In life, he was a hard-working country boy who loved his family and stole the hearts of many southern belles. But all of that came to a tragic halt at the age of nineteen when his life came to an untimely end. In death, his spirit has been entombed in a ghostly life of loneliness and misery...
